This mosque was built in 1154 AD. This mosque is located in Cairo, Egypt near the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. It is considered the holiest Islamic mosque in Egypt.
The mosque was built on the cemetery of the Fatimid Caliphate, although this was not known until archaeological excavations. Named after Muhammad's grandson Husayn Ibn Ali. Shia Muslims believe that Husayn's head is buried in the grounds of the mosque. The complex also houses a mausoleum.
