The Dhaka Times Desk Recently, a proposal has been made in the United States Congress to join Myanmar's Rakhine with Bangladesh. On June 13, the proposal came up at the State Department's budget hearing for South Asia!

According to media reports, Brad Sherman, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Subcommittee of the House of Representatives, urged the State Department to consider joining Myanmar's Rakhine state with Bangladesh.
In this regard, Brad Sherman said, if the United States can support the establishment of a new state by separating South Sudan from Sudan, why can't similar steps be taken to establish the civil rights of the Rohingya in Myanmar's Rakhine state?
Mentioning that a genocide has taken place in Myanmar, he said that if Myanmar cannot take responsibility for the Rohingya citizens of Rakhine, then joining Rakhine with Bangladesh, the country that has taken responsibility for them, would be a logical step.
It is known that the diplomats representing the Trump administration did not support or deny Congressman Sherman's statement.
