The Dhaka Times Desk The matter is quite funny. Sleeping with scotch tape on the face! But why? But this is what a popular Indonesian singer is doing!
Not only himself, he also invited his husband and children to do such a thing! This practice has been going on for the past three months!
According to a BBC report, the name of the singer who goes to sleep with scotch tape on her face is Ndien. Recently, the singer wrote a post on Instagram detailing this method of sleeping. The post of this popular singer started a stir in the net world.
Ndien said the thing they practice regularly while sleeping is called Buteiko. They have been doing this exceptional work for the last three months. Putting scotch tape on your mouth while sleeping means breathing through your nose.
Ndien claims that sleeping this way makes him sleep better than before. Also, if you sleep with scotch tape on your mouth, your throat will not dry out. Again, the bad smell does not come out of the mouth. All in all, he described it as quite beneficial.
In this regard, doctors say that it is not as beneficial as it is said to be. Sleeping with scotch tape on your face is very dangerous. Especially for children of course. They may also have problems breathing through the nose for any reason. If the mouth is then taped shut, a dire situation may arise.
It is said that the Buteyko method was first introduced to people in 1950 by a Soviet doctor named Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko. He invented this breathing method to treat asthma. It was named after him.
According to Patrick McKeown, the founder of International Buteiko Clinic, Buteiko is very effective in sleep problems, especially apnea, in which breathing is blocked in the airways during sleep and sleep problems, snoring.
Other doctors have different opinions about this procedure. Kathleen Yaremchak, an otolaryngologist in Michigan, says, 'Anyone should be able to breathe through their nose first. Most people never open their mouths on their own, unless they have difficulty breathing through their noses. Mouth breathing means they have a problem with their noses.' In such cases, keeping the mouth closed will not cure the problem of the nose, said the doctor.
