The country where mothers kill their children!

The Dhaka Times Desk Dozens of mothers go on trial every year in Russia for killing their unborn children. This is because they kill their own children.

According to media reports, the accused in this list of child killers include housewives and successful business managers.

This phenomenon of killing children is not only happening in Russia, psychologists also said that in America, one in four mothers wants to kill their children.

A 2014 study found that 15 percent of all homicides in the United States over the past 32 years were the deaths of infants at the hands of mothers.

According to the information of the Department of Justice, a total of 11,000 children were killed by their parents in 21 years from 1976 to 1997.

These deaths average more than 340 per year. But the picture of Russia is more difficult. To survive in Russia, one has to be very tough and inflexible. Which is why no one wants to talk about their mental health crisis easily with another person.

These infanticide stories basically show that many mothers suffer from postpartum depression soon after giving birth. However, the close family members could not identify this depression in many cases. Due to which many sad consequences occur.

Various taboos

BBC reporters Olisa Gerasimenko and Svetlana Reiter spoke to Russian women to find out why mothers kill their children.

Their findings suggest that the way motherhood is glorified needs to be changed.

Aloyna

They started buying clothes and clothes for the baby before birth. Not only that, but also attend some pre-natal classes to learn about motherhood and baby.

But no one talked about the mental problems of the mother after giving birth. After giving birth, Aloyna suffers from insomnia and struggles to cope with everything.

Such a situation gradually developed into psychosis and at one point he sought the help of a doctor and started taking medication. One day Peter returned home to find their 7-month-old baby drowned. Aloyna is found on a lake near the city of Moscow.

Later it is known that after drowning her child in the water, Aloyna herself drowned and lost consciousness there. His trial is currently underway.

Russian criminologists report that at least 80 percent of women seek medical advice before killing their children, including headaches, insomnia and irregular periods.

Who are these women?

In Russia they are actually a taboo. Infanticide is considered a taboo crime in Russian law. In 2018, 33 such cases are still under trial.

There are at least 30 women from various professions ranging from accountants, teachers, social welfare specialists, unemployed women, restaurant workers to the mothers whose cases the BBC looked into.

There are many women who have killed their children who have husbands, families, homes and jobs or are not addicted to drugs.

Doctors say that after giving birth, latent psychosis can suddenly flare up. Nor is it always manifested in the daily activities of a woman suffering from deep depression. However, it is believed that it can suddenly rear its head in the event of pregnancy, childbirth and menopause.
