Asif Akbar said that he is going to make his debut as a writer at the upcoming Ekush Book Fair. A book titled 'Potakra to Manhattan' written by Asif will be published in 'Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2020'. Asif himself confirmed this fact.
Recently, Asif gave a long status about the publication of this book. There, the 'O Priya O Priya Tumi Kair' famous singer wrote that, 'Writing is not my job, but I love to read. It can be any book, scripture or magazine, except mathematics. I used to go to the library from my childhood, I have a big library of my own. Everyone in our family has more or less study habits. Especially learning this practice from my mother.'
About the title of the book, he said, 'Our small village is called Potkara. My father came from this very backward village. Despite extreme adversity, he became a Dhaka University graduate. My father succeeded in overcoming all obstacles due to his indomitable desire to be highly educated. Our family followed his footsteps and is established in today's society. My childhood and teenage years were spent there i.e. in Potkara.
Even though I studied and grew up in Comilla city, the earthy smell of Potkara still lingers on me. I have made a name for myself as a singer Asif, our close family and village people are excited about my success. I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries of the world because of this song. Arriving in America's Manhattan, I waved the flag of victory like Neil Armstrong in my heart, but I did not forget the village of Potakara.
Asif also writes, 'By coming to Facebook, there is a ready way of communication with my fans. I thought I'd write something without giving a photo of the unnecessary fluff. The exchange of feelings with unknown people started through this social media. Someone suggested that I write a book, which I would never have written if I had taken it into consideration. I write whatever comes to mind in simple and fluent language like a short story. With the encouragement of the novelist Saadat Hossain, my book 'Potkara to Manhattan' is finally coming to the 2020 Akushi Book Fair.'
Asif Akbar said that the book written by him is being brought to the market by another publishing house. He is also very excited about starting a new innings with a new identity. Along with that Navars has also been. Asif called self-publishing a 'nervous innings'.
