The Dhaka Times Desk Distribution of e-passport started yesterday (Wednesday). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated this e-passport as the chief guest.
It is learned that initially e-passports will be distributed from Agargaon, Jatrabari and Uttara passport offices and later on in all places.
Let's know how long it will take to get e-passport:
The e-passport will basically have 48 and 64 pages. There are three types of this passport. E.g.- 'Urgent', 'Urgent' and 'Normal'. For 5 years and 10 years e-passports different rates of fee have to be submitted.
5 years e-passport
To get # 48 page 'Urgent Passport' in 2 days you have to pay a fee of Tk 7,500.
# 48-page 'Emergency Passport' in 7 days to get a fee of Tk 5,500.
# 48-page 'ordinary passport' in 15 days to get a fee of Tk 3,500.
10 years e-passport
# 48 page 'ordinary passport' within 15 days fee Rs 5,000.
# 48 pages 'Emergency Passport' in 7 days to get fee Rs 7,000.
# 48 page 'Urgent Passport' in 2 days to get fee 9,000 Tk.
5 years e-passport
# 64 page 'ordinary passport' in 15 days to get a fee of Tk 5,500.
# 64-page 'Emergency Passport' in 7 days to get a fee of Tk 7,500.
# 64 page 'Extreme Passport' in 2 days to get Tk 10,500 fee.
10 years e-passport
# 64 page 'ordinary passport' in 15 days to get fee Rs 7,000.
# 64 pages 'Emergency Passport' in 7 days to get a fee of Tk 9,000.
# 64-page 'Urgent Passport' in 2 days to get the fee is Rs.12,000.
However, VAT at the rate of 15 percent has to be deposited along with the above fee. The e-passport application form should be filled according to the national identity card or birth certificate. In case of minor (less than 18 years) applicants, who do not have National Identity Card, their parent's National Identity Card number must be mentioned.
