The historic Shailkupa zamindar house is located in Abaipur village of Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district. Bangla In the middle of the 12th century, the zamindar Ramsundar Shikdar of Jessore district of undivided India established Shailkupa zamindar house on about 400 bighas. This two-storied zamindar house had around 350 rooms with a revolving building. Later Ramachandra established his zamindari by setting up a large bazaar and theater hall with a sub-registrar's office here, which later became known as Shikdar Street.

Several archeological artifacts including gramophone, stone hookah, sword, ancient musical instrument Esraj, Srimad Bhagavatam, two sal wood temples and parts of Banarasi sari with silver lace designs have been preserved under the care of the descendants of Zamindar Ramsundar. Although the zamindari system of Shikdar Street disappeared with the passage of time, the ancient house still survives as a historical witness of the zamindari system. At present the Shailkupa zamindar houses one part of the local union land office and the other part of the zamindar's descendants.
