The Dhaka Times Desk It was never heard of that a man could ever live without a heart. But that's exactly what happened this time. A man in Britain has set a record for living two years without a heart!

The Sunday Times reported that for two years he has been breathing through a blood pump placed outside the body. Matthew Green, a 42-year-old pharmaceutical consultant, received a heart donor late last month. He also performed a successful heart transplant at Popworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire. Green is still in the hospital. But doctors hope he can return home soon.
After the heart transplant, Green said, 'I feel incredibly lucky. Because through the heart transplant I have now got the opportunity to enter the third stage of life.'
In July 2011, both chambers of Green's heart failed due to a condition called cardiomyopathy. Then experimentally in the hospital, his heart was removed and the blood vessels were connected to a blood pump outside the body. Through this process, his heart was being operated through a large pump placed on a trolley. Thus, with the help of the battery, he was able to go out of the house for three hours at times. But he was warned that he could not rely on its artificial pump for more than two years. Because there is a risk of serious blood clots. At six feet three inches tall, a fit heart appeared to be a must for Greene.
Finally after two years a suitable heart was found last month. Then the doctors successfully transplanted the heart into his body. Which will help him live longer. Source: Online
