The story of a rat who saved many people's lives and got a gold medal!

The Dhaka Times Desk A small mouse. It is not saving many people's lives! It sounds strange, but the story is true. Little mouse, he saved many lives. So this time the rat has been honored with a gold medal!

It is known that the African mouse is called Magwa. So far, this rat has successfully recovered 39 landmines and 28 explosives. An area of 1 lakh 41 thousand square kilometers has been tested. Which is basically equal to 20 football fields. This type of African rat is mainly used to find landmines or explosives under the ground.

But it is also necessary to give training for a long time. An organization called APOPO is responsible for this work. They are the ones who make such mice proficient in this way with proper training. Magawa was awarded a gold medal by Cambodia's PDSA. In the 77-year history of the organization, a rat is the first animal to receive the award.

Many areas of Cambodia that have witnessed multiple bloody wars still have many landmines. Sometimes it leads to loss of life. Therefore, with the help of rats and other trained animals, the work of finding those landmines or explosives is carried out. It is known that Magwa can check an entire tennis court in just 30 minutes to see if there are any explosives or landmines. But it will take at least four days for a man to find it with a bomb detector. So the rat has become the main trust in this work.

Netizens are happy with the news of Magwa's gold medal win. The news of Magwar's award was announced in a tweet by PDSA. That post is also currently viral. Social media around the world is abuzz with appreciation of the rat's work.
