Divorce at the wedding due to a fight over the distribution of gifts!

The Dhaka Times Desk The separation took place within hours of the wedding in Rajshahi's Bagmara due to a quarrel over gift sharing.

The divorce happened when the bride and groom got into an argument over the distribution of the gifts given by the guests at the wedding. The incident happened on the afternoon of December 18 in Ismailpur village of the upazila.

According to the police and locals, Mohsin Ali (28) of Gangopara village of Telipukur in Bagmara upazila got married to Jasmine Akhter (23) of Ismailpur village of the same upazila with a dowry of one lakh taka. But while taking the new bride to the groom's house, there is a setback.

First there was a quarrel over the distribution of the gifts, and then a quarrel reached its climax. A situation that lasts till late night. The matter has reached the police station through the local Awami League leaders. Later, the marriage of the bride and groom was separated by mutual agreement.

In this regard, Nikah registrar Akkash Ali said that the incident of divorce happened due to the disharmony of the bride and groom. There is a great lack of tolerance between people on both sides. Such incidents are really sad.

The complaint of the bride's family is that the groom's party has gone overboard with the gifts. We wanted to have a family but it was not possible because of the groom.

However, when the bridegroom was contacted to know about this, they did not want to comment. Azahar Ali, a neighbor of the groom and a former UP member, said both sides should have kept calm. Such an event is never desirable.

In this regard, Bagmara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Afzal Hossain told the media that no one has complained about the matter. He has learned that the divorce took place through mutual agreement between the parties.
