Experiments are underway with artificial seismicity to prevent building collapse in earthquakes

The Dhaka Times Desk Earthquakes are one of those natural disasters that are not easy to foresee. Therefore, researching earthquakes is also a rare thing. US researchers plan to test safe buildings by creating artificial earthquakes.

A team of structural engineers led by John Hawkins managed to organize an earthquake in a building. Researchers observe how a lab-built two-story building can survive an earthquake. Researchers scrutinize every scene with sensors and cameras. The New York study began three years ago and involved scientists from six universities and design consultants from the steel industry.

The research was only possible in the United States because the United States has the ability to create artificial earthquakes. Creating artificial earthquakes in a 50-foot-long, 20-foot-wide, and 20-foot-tall building has led researchers to several issues and new building code rules. And so Building Code There will be several changes in the rules of use of steel used in this.

According to the new code, in the construction of building or any structure Cold formed steel It will be more profitable and cost effective to use. Cold formed steel is more efficient than structures made of wood or hot rolled steel. Cold formed steel is environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable. It is assumed that artificial seismic structure design will bring out various information through analysis which will initiate many changes in infrastructure including safety in building construction.
