Quoting the police, the Indian media reported that the name of the accused's bank manager is Hari Shankar. He is the manager of a state-owned bank in Hanumanthanagar, Bangalore. Recently, Shankar had a conversation with a young woman on a dating app. Gradually their relationship also deepens. After that, this person tried to be a 'hero' in front of his girlfriend by grabbing a lot of money from the bank.
The complaint of the zonal manager of that bank is that bank manager Hari Shankar has withdrawn 5 crore 70 lakh rupees (approximately 6 crore 76 lakh taka) through financial irregularities. The incident took place between May 13 and 19. Not only Shankar, two bank colleagues Kaushalya and Muniraju also helped in this.
Hari Shankar has already been arrested on charges of embezzlement from the bank. Accused Hari Shankar is currently in police custody for 10 days. On the other hand, his two colleagues are being interrogated.
Police said that a woman customer made a fixed deposit of Rs 1.3 crore in the bank, showing which she also took a loan of Rs 7.5 lakh. He submitted all the necessary documents to the bank.
Allegations have been made that Hari Shankar used those documents and fixed deposits to commit fraud. Keeping the customer's money as security, 5 crore 70 lakh rupees were withdrawn from that bank. This money is divided into several parts and kept in a total of 28 separate bank accounts in different cities of West Bengal-Karnataka.
The police came to know that a total of 136 bank transactions were made to withdraw this huge amount of money. Two of his colleagues helped Hari Shankar in that work. But they are being interrogated to know whether they were forced to do this or not.
Although Hari Shankar has denied all the allegations against him. He claimed that the cybercriminals extorted this huge amount of money from him by luring him to talk to the young woman on the dating app. The local police is also investigating this statement of the accused.
