Unveiling the cover of BASIS magazine 'Smart Bangladesh'

The Dhaka Times Desk The cover of BASIS magazine 'Smart Bangladesh' was unveiled in BASIS evening full of stories, chats and songs.

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the national trade organization of the country's software and information technology services sector, celebrated 'BASIS Evening' for the first time. The cover of BASIS magazine 'Smart Bangladesh' was unveiled at the event. The event was organized on Saturday evening, November 12, 2022 at a restaurant in the capital.

The BASIS evening moderated by BASIS President Russell T Ahmed was attended by BASIS Ex-President and Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mustafa Jabbar, Ex-Presidents Sarwar Alam and Habibullah N Karim, Founder Members Atiq-e Rabbani and Shafqat Haider. Besides, BASIS Vice President (Administration) Abu Daud Khan, Director AKM Ahmedul Islam Babu, Mushfiqur Rahman, Tanveer Hossain Khan, Advisory Standing Committee Chairman M Rashidul Hasan were present on the stage.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, “I am here today not as a minister, but as a former president of BASIS. In the month of September 1997, only a few of us founded BASIS and formed the first committee of BASIS through spontaneous elections. As such Basis has already completed 25 years of age. BASIS started its journey with only 18 charter member institutions but now its membership is around 2500. The basis was established so that domestic software can be accepted by the government and private institutions of the country, so that our software can make its own place in the country and abroad. I think that goal of establishing BASIS has been achieved today.”

About the launch of BASIS monthly magazine 'Smart Bangladesh' he said, I congratulate the BASIS leaders especially the current president Russell T Ahmed for taking the initiative to publish an excellent magazine called 'Smart Bangladesh'. He called on BASIS members to create new innovative information technology products and services to fulfill the dream of 'Smart Bangladesh' announced by the Honorable Prime Minister by 2041.

BASIS President Russell T Ahmed in his speech thanked all the BASIS members present including former president, founding members, former executive committee members. He also highlighted the context and future plans of Smart Bangladesh magazine every month. Moreover, he also announced to organize an annual banquet at Suvarnagram with BASIS members on 21st January 2023.

Gathering together in a convivial atmosphere with BASIS members, BASIS evenings are enjoyed by all with stories, chats, songs and dinner. In addition to the former executive committee members, representatives of more than four hundred BASIS member organizations also participated in the event.
