According to the BBC, even if they need to go outside, they travel barefoot. Not only that, even if someone in the family falls ill, they do not go to the hospital. If for some reason they need to go to their relative's house or need to go somewhere else, they do not take any outside food or even water!
There is one such village about 50 km from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, India. The name of this village is Vemana Indlu. The residents of this village said that this is their old tradition.
Villagers said that when the District Magistrate entered the village, he himself took off his shoes before entering the village.
Village chief Irabba said, this custom has been going on since the time our community came and started living in this village. There are 25 houses in this village with a total of 80 people. There are total 52 voters in this village. Only a handful of them have graduated. People here are not very educated. They depend on agriculture.
