Koran burning: Muslims worldwide call for boycott of Swedish products

The Dhaka Times Desk Muslims around the world have come together on social media to call for a boycott of Swedish products. The boycott has been called for recently after the burning of the Koran under police guard with the permission of the Swedish court.

Al-Azhar University in Egypt started this campaign. According to this campaign, a boycott of Swedish products was called in protest against the recent incident of burning the Holy Quran.

According to the news published in Egypt Today, it is known that a fatwa of Swedish product boycott was issued through the Al-Azhar University World Fatwa Center in favor of the Holy Qur'an. Moreover, Muslim and Arab countries are also called upon to take strict action against such acts. This was stated in a statement on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kuwait strongly protested against the burning of the holy book of Muslims in Sweden, the Koran.

There are also rumors that the country's supermarket association is boycotting Swedish products. There is already a news that 259 Swedish products have been withdrawn from the Kuwaiti market. However, no international media has confirmed the matter yet.
