That's exactly what happened last Saturday in Wiltshire, UK. This musical instrument of the band star Wallace Hartley was sold at auction for a record 9 million pounds!
Notably, not today's story, on April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after colliding with an iceberg. One thousand 518 people died in it. One of them was Wallace Hartley. He played the violin to calm the panicked passengers while the ship was sinking. A British citizen bought the violin, BBC reported.
