With four fully independent fins, the U-CAT can swim in all directions, up, down, forward and backward. It has to be managed manually. It can basically go deep into the water while it can also move around in different angles or go up and down while keeping the current of the water calm. It will be used as a special useful device for research work including various underwater installations, mineral discovery, extraction and delivery of materials.
U-CAT, originally funded by the European Union, will carry out various tasks, including exploration in the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas. Malat, along with other giant floating robots, will be used for underwater research.
