Roshan's campaign towards the government continues: Will he win this time too?

The Dhaka Times Desk Roshan Ershad played a key role in the discussion about the grand alliance before the last election. Then Roshan won in the end. Ershad was elected by bringing him to the Grand Alliance. But can Roshan this time?

There are many such questions in the public mind. Because Ershad suddenly decided to join the all-party government and hold elections. There is no choice. Accordingly, the Jatiya Party joined the government and the party leaders again submitted their nominations. But suddenly Ershad announced that he will not contest. He said, if all the parties do not participate, the Jatiya Party will not go to the elections.

Awami League, countrymen and even other friendly countries of the world were surprised by Ershad's announcement. Although Ershad's attitude is well known to the people of the country. But world leaders could not help but be surprised by such a decision. And as a result of Ershad's announcement, the eyes of the outside world became more intense. Because of the unstable situation that has arisen with the recent elections in Bangladesh, the friendly countries of the world are also worried about Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Jatiya Party members in the Council of Ministers are in a state of disarray despite Ershad not contesting the elections and withdrawing from the government. Joining the Council of Ministers and withdrawing again became their pastiche issue. That is why Jatiya Party senior leaders Anisul Islam Mahmud and Ruhul Amin Hawladar met with the Prime Minister on the first day. After that, Roshan Ershad also held a meeting with the Prime Minister. They promised the Prime Minister that the matter would be settled peacefully. But Ershad is still in a strong position.

Several party sources also said that the government is using Roshan Ershad to change Ershad's opinion. Due to this situation, the smoke net created by the pro-government activities of a section of Japa under the leadership of Roshan Ershad is still not cut. Maybe it will take a few more days to clear things up. In the last election too, such a deadlock was created in the Jatiya Party over going to the Grand Alliance. Then Roshan Ershad played a role for Awami League in this matter. Because Roshan Ershad had one argument, after assuming power in 1991, BNP sent Ershad to jail and made many cases for which Ershad had to spend 5 years in jail. And so Roshan Ershad thinks it is very good to be in the grand coalition of Awami League. This time too he is proceeding with such a calculation. Still there is the question of honor. Because it has been a few days and it is very painful to see him withdraw from the ministry. But this time Roshan Ershad will really win his campaign? This is the question.

According to a Japa source, Ershad is adamant about not going to the 'one-sided' elections despite the various efforts and pressure of the government. On the other hand, Japa's three ministers-advisors along with his wife Roshan Ershad are involved in the activities to remain in the government. Due to this, there is some complication in the implementation of Ershad's decision. Ershad also told reporters yesterday that if the Council of Ministers is there or what. The last thing is that we will not go to the elections. Apart from trying to bring Ershad into the fold, the government is now working on an alternative strategy to keep Zapa in the election by making Roshan Ershad the acting chairman of the party. Yesterday, Kazi Zafar Ahmed explained to the journalists that this is true.

In such a situation, the final position of Ershad and his team may take a few more days to be clear. Time will tell what Ershad is going to do.
