The top leaders of BNP and Awami League sat again in the presence of Assistant Secretary General Oscar Fernandez Taranco, who is visiting the UN Special Envoy to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh. According to the media, this meeting started at the UNDP office in Gulshan of the capital today on Wednesday around noon.
However, although it is not clear who is in this meeting, a source said, like yesterday, Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam led by Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Gauhar Rizvi on the other hand led by BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Moin Khan and Begum Zia's adviser Shamser Mobin Chowdhury attended the meeting.
It is to be noted that UN Special Envoy Assistant Secretary General Oscar Fernandez Taranco was scheduled to return yesterday after a 4-day visit, but he remained in Bangladesh for one more day due to his role in resolving the crisis. He will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before leaving for New York this evening. And it is expected to inform the journalists about the discussion of the two parties by holding a press conference.
However, in a short press conference yesterday, he said that both parties are ready to make concessions on the issue of reconciliation.
