The day before yesterday, a national daily reported that a 5-member expert team of the United Nations Human Rights Organization is coming to Dhaka soon to investigate the recent disappearances in Bangladesh. The United Nations has decided to investigate 13 cases of disappearances in different countries on an urgent basis. Among these, the United Nations has decided to conduct an urgent investigation into a missing incident in Bangladesh. This information was informed in a press release of the United Nations Human Rights Organization.

However, the date of when this expert team will come has not been fixed yet. The press release did not mention that the UN team is coming to Bangladesh to investigate any disappearances. However, according to those concerned, the UN expert team will come to investigate the disappearance of BNP leader Elias Ali. The decision was taken at the 97th session of the Working Group on Missing Persons in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The 5-day session ended on July 13 in Geneva. In this session, a total of 200 missing persons complaints from different countries of the world were reviewed. The agency sought information about the disappearance from various countries around the world. The session verifies these data. Among these are many missing charges filed against the Bangladesh government. The United Nations will continue to investigate these allegations in stages. However, out of a total of 200 investigations, 13 missing cases were taken into consideration and an urgent investigation was decided. For this purpose, an independent investigation delegation of 5 members will come to Dhaka soon, the daily wrote quoting the relevant sources.

Meanwhile, sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the UN delegation will be welcomed if they want to investigate the disappearance of BNP leader Ilyas Ali. Ilyas' case is still under investigation. The related agencies of the government have continued to work in this regard. But the investigation is not over yet. However, we have not yet received any letter regarding the arrival of the UN expert team to Dhaka to investigate the disappearance. The UN team must inform us by letter before coming. Anyone can report a missing person to this UN agency.

Citing sources, the newspaper also said that if Ilyas Ali's disappearance was to be investigated, his family or party must have complained beforehand. If the UN expert team comes, they may ask the government what steps the government has taken regarding this disappearance.

It should be noted that the United Nations Working Group on Disappearances was established in 1980 to find the families of persons who are alleged to have disappeared at the hands of a state force or to uncover the true facts. Since then, this organization has been taking initiatives to investigate the sensational disappearances of different countries around the world.
