The Dhaka Times Desk Monster-sized jellyfish are generally harmless to humans. They can be found in the Atlantic or Mediterranean. Some of these creatures were spotted by photographer Steve Treval on the south shore of Portland City.
Experts say that these types of jellyfish are under threat today due to the increase in the temperature of the environment. Within the next few years, these giant jellyfish, measuring 3 feet 2 inches in diameter, will disappear. Richard Harrington, head of the Marine Conservation Society, said: "Although these animals are not harmful to us, we ask people not to catch them. A few days ago Susanna Sheldon was taking her dog for a morning walk.
This time he saw a large jellyfish lying dead. Based on his discovery, it can be seen that it is a giant jellyfish. Susanna Sheldon, 47, said it was about three feet long and fleshy. He said it was the largest jellyfish he had ever seen. Animal experts say that jellyfish are deep-sea animals because their outer skin is very thin, so even a slight increase in water temperature causes an adverse reaction in their body.
This warming is also the reason why this jellyfish seen by Susanna Sheldon is dying off the coast. At the beginning of May, due to the increase in atmospheric pressure and temperature, it floated dead in the water and came ashore. It is to be noted that meteorologists had issued a warning of rising temperatures earlier this month. 10 dead jellyfish have been found on Portland's south coast in the past week.
These are Atlantic creatures, Harrington said. But sometimes they can be seen on different coasts because they are washed ashore by strong water currents or wind blows. These coastal animals survive in ocean water usually by eating plankton.
