Dhaka University Admission Test: Changes in Rules: Increase in some seats

The Dhaka Times Desk Students and parents are extremely worried since the results of HSC exam. They have many doubts about the admission opportunity. However, in terms of admission, Dhaka University is at the top of the list. In such a situation, some changes have been made in the admission test rules of Dhaka University.

Many students have to face the entrance exam in just a few days. Preparations are also underway. The admission test schedule of Dhaka University has already been given. But suddenly the Dhaka University authorities have brought some changes in the rules. Since the admission pressure is high, the authorities have taken the initiative to implement these rules.

Dhaka University is the highest university in the country known as the Oxford of the East. Admission for 2014-15 session is going to start from September 5. First will be the examination of 'C' unit under the Faculty of Business. Online application process of students continues for the purpose of admission test. It will run till 2 pm on August 31.

The administration of Dhaka University has introduced several new rules in this year's admission test. The rules for students are detailed as follows:

Calculators cannot be used in the exam

This year the use of calculators has been completely banned in the examination hall to prevent digital cheating. Last year, during the entrance exam, several candidates were duplicating using digital calculator. Later they were arrested by the university administration.

However, the university authorities said, 'complicated questions that need to be solved in calculus are not in the exam. For this reason, even if the calculator is banned, it will not affect the students in the admission test.'

Advanced English

For the first time this year, those students who want to study in English department through 'D' unit, have been asked to write the answer sheet of Advanced English instead of Bangladesh subjects. In previous years no exam required the student to answer Advanced English.

The number has been reduced

You cannot get admission in all the departments only if you are first in the merit list after passing the entrance test. In this case, there are several conditions to be fulfilled by the students to get various categories. One of these is the number condition. In last year's admissions, it was seen that many students did not get admission in any department despite being early in the merit list.

Again, many people got admission from the waiting list. There were also genuine vacancies for students in several departments including the law department. Therefore, in this year's entrance exam, the university has decided to reduce the marks in English and Bengali to about 2/1. As a result, students will benefit from law or other subjects.

Seats have been increased

২০১৪-১৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষে প্রথম বর্ষ সম্মান শ্রেণীতে ৬ হাজার ৫৮২ জন শিক্ষার্থী ভর্তির সুযোগ পাবেন। গত বছর এ সংখ্যা ছিল ৬ হাজার ৪৩৩ জন। এবছর ১৪৯টি আসন বেড়েছে। শুধুমাত্র ‘খ’ ইউনিটের আসন এবার কমানো হয়েছে। বাকি সব বিভাগগুলোতেই এই বছর আসন বাড়ানো হয়েছে। বিভাগগুলো হলো: বিজ্ঞান, জীববিজ্ঞান, ফার্মেসি, আর্থ অ্যান্ড এনভায়রনমেন্টাল সায়েন্সেস এবং ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং টেকনোলজি অনুষদভুক্ত ‘ক’ ইউনিট। বিজনেস স্টাডিজ (ব্যবসায় শিক্ষা) – অনুষদভুক্ত ‘গ’ ইউনিট। সম্মিলিত ‘ঘ’ ইউনিট। চারুকলা অনুষদ (সব শাখা) ‘চ’ ইউনিট।
