Language soldier Abdul Mateen is no more

The Dhaka Times Desk বায়ান্নর ভাষা আন্দোলনের এক অকুতভয় সৈনিক ভাষা মতিন আর নেই। তিনি আমাদের ছেড়ে চিরদিনের জন্য চলে গেছেন। আজ বুধবার সকাল ৯টায় পিজি হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তাঁর লাইফ সাপোর্ট তুলে নিলে চির বিদায় নেন ইন্নালি…রাজিউন।

Language soldier Abadul Mateen was suffering from various problems including old age, diabetes, kidney heart for a long time. Over the past few days, his condition has deteriorated. He was put on life support. Afzal Hossain, Professor of Neurosurgery Department of Bangabandhu Medical, said that he was declared dead at 9 am on Wednesday.

It is to be noted that after suffering a stroke on August 18, he was first admitted to Mohammadpur City Hospital. Later he was shifted to Bangabandhu Medical for better treatment. After 2 days on August 20, doctors operated on his brain there. Since then he was under treatment in ICU.

Abdul Matin lived with his family in Mohammadpur along with 2 daughters. He was born on December 3, 1926, in Dhublia village of Chauhali upazila of Sirajganj district. In 1952, he led the all-party Rashtrabhasa Sangam Committee as convener.
