Jihad's father will sue

The Dhaka Times Desk The father of Shishu Jihad, who died after falling into a water pipe in Shahjahanpur area of the capital, will file a case. He wants to file a case alleging that his son died due to negligence in the rescue work.

Nasir Fakir, the father of child Jihad, who fell into a water pump pipe in the capital's Shahjahanpur area, alleged that his son Jihad's death was due to negligence in rescue operations. He wants justice. A case will be filed against the culprits for this. Jihad's father Nasir Fakir made the complaint in a press conference at a neighbor's house in Railway Colony of Shahjahanpur on Saturday night.

He said that 'on Friday night, after State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that there was no one inside the pipe, the rescue operation slowed down. If the state minister had not said this, then maybe I would have got my son back alive.'

Nasir Fakir also told the reporters, 'Looking at the body, it seems that my son died this morning. He could have been rescued alive last night. My son died due to negligence in rescue operations.'

Nasir also complained of mental torture against the police of Shahjahanpur police station. He said, the police took me to Shahjahanpur police station to provide security as the media might disturb during the rescue work at around 2.30 pm on Friday. The police continued to pressurize me in various ways to say that jihad has not gone down the drain.

Nasir said that a senior police officer questioned him. Nasir said, that police officer told me that your son did not fall into the pipe. You hid him. I told him, why would I hide my son! Then he said, then someone else is hiding, can kidnap. I kept telling him, I am a poor man - why would anyone kidnap my son. The police officer then said again, 'Then you are the one hiding him.'

Nasir Fakir said that he will file a case against the culprits in the death of his son.

Nasir Fakir's brother-in-law and Jihad's uncle Monir also accused the police of torturing him. In the press conference, he said, "I did not find Jihad's father, but I did not get any information even after searching at various police stations." Monir also claimed that Manju, another uncle of Jihad, was severely beaten by the police of the local outpost while searching for Nasir Fakir.

It is to be noted that the fire service tried to rescue Shishu Jihad after he fell into the water pump pipe near the railway field of Shahjahanpur in the capital on Friday around 3:30 pm. Rescue operations by the fire service were unsuccessful throughout the night. The private volunteers recovered the body of child Jihad within 10 minutes of suspending the rescue operation after the fire service announced that the child was not in the pipe on Saturday afternoon.
