The price of a shoal fish is 50 thousand taka!

The Dhaka Times Desk We have heard the story of shoal fish in our childhood. Big shoal fish could be seen in the market. But now it is not visible anymore. However, the media has reported a shoal fish that costs 50 thousand taka!

This huge shoal of 50 thousand taka is found in Nayapara village of Raipur union of Barhatra upazila of Netrokona district. Mahashol weighing 17 kg was caught in the net on Monday morning. Later this huge shoal fish was sold in the market for 50 thousand taka.

According to eyewitness sources, farmer Sajal Mia (48) of Nayapara village bought 13 Mahashol fish of endangered species for 36 thousand taka from the fishermen of the river near the hills of Kalmakanda upazila two years ago. One of them weighed about 6 kg. The rest of the fish weighed 250 to 300 grams. He released the fish to 68 percent of his pond.

After taking the fish for sale in the local Teguria market, the asking price was Tk 65,000. Around 40/45 people along with a member of neighboring villages Irakanda, Nayapara, Nishchintpur and Teguria bought this huge fish.

The price of this fish of 50,000 rupees is 1,000 rupees. The fish is cut into 50 equal pieces. Many people buy multiple shares.
