A teacher can not write a cow!

The Dhaka Times Desk A teacher can't compose a cow. And so he has to face the law. The court has ordered to file a case against that school teacher in Kashmir.

According to media reports, the court has ordered a case against the school teacher in Kashmir for failing to solve a fourth class mathematics question and write an essay on a cow. Last Friday, the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir High Court ordered the teacher to solve the question of writing a cow and maths in a public hearing, but the teacher failed to do so.

According to the news, as part of various steps in the ongoing campaign to take legal action against substandard educational institutions, the court brought the teacher to court to prove his qualifications. The teacher named Mohammad Imran Khan is working as Rehbar-e-Talim (Director of Education) of a school in South Kashmir.

It is alleged that the educational certificates issued to him by the Delhi Board of Higher Secondary Education and the Global Open University of Nagaland are not recognised. The mark sheet issued by the Delhi Board of Secondary Education to the teacher shows that he secured 74, 73 and 66 percent marks in Urdu, English and Mathematics respectively.

Justice Muzaffar Hussain's court asked him to translate a simple sentence from English to Urdu and another simple sentence from Urdu to English, but the teacher failed to do so. The teacher was then asked to write an essay on a cow in Urdu. He failed in this too. The teacher asked for permission to write the essay outside the courtroom and the court granted it. But he also failed.

Then the teacher claimed in the court that he is good at mathematics. That is why he is allowed to solve a class IV maths question. But as the teacher failed in that too, the court became angry.

The court directed the Jammu and Kashmir government to immediately constitute a panel. The task of this panel will be to scrutinize the certificates payable by the unrecognized educational institutions. Besides, the State Education Department has been directed to ensure proper educational assessment of the candidate while offering the job. The court said that various racketeering institutions have been set up to award degrees in exchange of money. The High Court has also directed to take appropriate action against them. Also, the court ordered to file an FIR against that teacher Imran.
