The Dhaka Times Desk Broadcasting of 'Digant Television' and Islamic Television has been stopped by the government order. Detective police and BGB members went to the offices of two private TV channels in the early morning of May 6 and stopped the broadcast. Since then both the channels have stopped broadcasting.
It is reported that BTRT director Colonel Sajjad along with the detective police went to the office of Digant Television at 166, Syed Nazrul Islam Swarani Al-Razi Complex, Purana Paltan of the capital and stopped its transmission. Meanwhile, the officials seized the broadcast equipment. Later the seizure list was handed over to the authorities.
Similarly, members of the law and order forces came to the office of Islamic Television at 34/1, Paribag (fourth floor) Sonargaon Road of the capital around 3 am. They stopped broadcasting the channel.
However, the authorities have not been informed as to why the transmission of the two channels has been stopped. It has only been said that there is an order from the higher authority to stop broadcasting.
