The Dhaka Times Desk As the driver fell asleep, the train went 7 kilometers away! One such incident happened in Parvatipur.

A driver fell asleep while shunting a train without passengers. The train goes at least 7 kilometers away! The incident took place on Saturday around 2.30 am at Parvatipur railway station. However, as there was no other train on that line at that time, the train did not suffer any major accident.

Parvatipur Stationmaster Saheed Zaman told the media that during the shunting work at Parvatipur station around 2:30 am, driver (loco master) Ancharul was shunting a non-passenger train named '23 Up' with engine number 6308 of broad gauge line. But when he fell asleep during santing, the train went towards Bhavanipur station without stopping at the home signal. As the train did not stop at the home signal, the pointsman Mahbub Alam who was stationed there got confused. He repeatedly called the driver to stop the train. However, when he was woken up by the sound of the phone, the train had moved near the outer signal of Bhavanipur station, 7 km from Parvatipur. Later he brought the train back from there to Wash Ft. There was no major accident as there was no train on that route at that time.
