The story of a village without a man!

The Dhaka Times Desk Korapara, a tribal-dominated village in Birbhum, India, has now become a barren village! But why?

Nagri Block is just 8 km away from Seuri in Birbhum. There is this tribal inhabited village Korapara. Only fifty families live in this village. The death rate has increased dramatically over the past 5 years. Many young, middle-aged and elderly men lost their lives. Most of the people who are alive today are also affected by tuberculosis. Many women also died. The number of orphaned children and teenagers is now high.

One of the conditions of tuberculosis is malnutrition. Birbhum's Korapara is no exception. No family in the village has work, they are unemployed. Everyone lives well below the poverty line. In the villages near the Jharkhand border, there is no cultivation. To work, only go to Siuri town and work as a day laborer. Even the benefits of a hundred days of work do not reach here.

Tuberculosis beetle entered through the gap of lack of income. Then a new symptom was added, intoxication. Like the five tribal villages here too, the festival of Puja was going on. Brewed wine came five years ago. Tuberculosis in the chest, alcohol in the stomach. The unscrupulous liquor business extinguished even the last hope of recovery of the weak bodies. A little away from the village brewing business is going on!

A village just 8 km away is dying out. Majority of people are affected by tuberculosis. In this Jakshmapuri, almost everyone's life lamp is almost dim now. The light of hope there is four fresh lives. Their body's defenses have not yet broken down against these germs. One of them has already fled the village. So this maleless village will return to its former form one day? This is everyone's question.
