The Dhaka Times Desk It is natural that anyone would be surprised to hear such a thing. But it actually happened. He was playing the guitar during a man's head surgery!

The amazing incident that was reported in the news media happened in India. An Indian artist made headlines by playing the guitar while undergoing brain surgery to cure finger muscle spasms.
According to BBC news, the Indian guitarist Abhishek Prasad played the guitar to help the doctor during surgery!
It is known that 37-year-old Abhishek was suffering from 'musician's dystonia' for a long time. In this disease, problems such as painful contractions, bending or uncontrollable and abnormal movements of the muscles of the fingers appeared. That's why he couldn't move the middle, ring and little fingers of his left hand when playing the guitar.
It is reported that he is able to play the guitar again after undergoing this surgery in Bangalore. The doctors asked him to play the guitar to monitor the response of the fingers during the surgery.
Abhishek told the media that his fingers were having problems only while playing the guitar. Thought, this stiffness of fingers is due to excess practice. But after trying a few times, he realized that this inertia would not leave him.
“Some doctors called it muscle fatigue. Also prescribed painkillers, multivitamins, antibiotics and physiotherapy. But nine months ago, a neurologist diagnosed the problem as dystonia and suggested an operation."
Abhishek said that he was initially scared when he heard the suggestion of brain surgery. But his doctor Sharan Srinivasan gave him confidence.
Generally: The patient is never anesthetized in this type of surgery. Anesthesia is given only externally as the brain does not feel pain inside. An electrode is then inserted through a hole of a certain size in the skull.
Again, gentle electrical waves are sent through that electrode to activate the dysfunctional nerves of the brain. Because the patient is conscious (definition), doctors can immediately understand how well the surgery is working.
Guitarist Abhishek remembers everything clearly during the surgery. He said he also observed that before conducting the MRI scan, the doctors carefully fixed a frame to his head with four screws to open the skull.
During the surgery, Abhishek feels that something is triggered somewhere. But then he did not understand any pain. The doctor asked him to play the guitar while giving a total of 6 electric waves. He was completely normal on the operating table.
Dr. Srinivasan said the specialized conductive electrodes were inserted into Abhishek's skull through a 14mm hole. The nerve that had to be operated on was 8 to 9 cm deep in the brain.
The doctor said, "Abhishek was conscious the whole time. Results were also obtained manually on the surgical table. Because his fingers were moving naturally on the guitar!”
Abhishek is feeling some weakness in his left arm and left leg after the surgery. However, he hopes to be able to recover and resume full practice within a month.
