Experimental train operation on Ishwardi-Pabna railway line is starting today

Ishwardi representative Experimental train movement on the railway from Madhgram to Pabna on the Ishwardi-Dhalarchar railway is starting today from Thursday.

Project Director Engineer Mohammad Subaktgin has confirmed to the media about the experimental train movement on the railway from Madhgram to Pabna on the Ishwardi-Dhalarchar railway. He told the media that it took more time to work due to hostile weather. It is hoped that the experimental train will run from Rajshahi to Pabna via Ishwardi on December 14. In the first phase, a Shurtle train is expected to ply on the Pabna-Ishwardi-Rajshahi route.

Out of the 11 police stations of Pabna district, some people of 3 police stations got railway facility, but a large part of the total population of the district was deprived of this facility till now. The people of Pabna have been demanding the construction of this railway for a long time. The wait is now over. Now the people of Pabna are eagerly waiting for the exciting train journey.

Not today, people of Pabna have demanded this railway for hundreds of years. In 1914, when the Hardinge Bridge was constructed over the Padma River, the first demand arose for a link road rail line from Ishwardi to Pabna. At that time the British also promised to fulfill this demand. But that promise was never fulfilled.

After the independence of Bangladesh in 1974, the then Awami League government started working on the Ishwardi-Dhalarchar railway project with the aim of implementing this long-standing demand of the people of Pabna. At that time, when the river-centered economic system was developed in Pabna, land was also acquired for the railway from Ishwardi to Pabna to Nagarbari to strengthen the transportation system by land. However, after the change of pot in 1975, the work of the project was stopped.

Later, before the 2008 national elections, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina promised the people of Pabna in a video conference at the Town Hall Muktamanch field in Pabna that this railway construction project will be implemented if the Awami League government is formed in the future. In 2010, the Awami League government took the decision to build this railway, demanding the lives of the people of Pabna. At this time it was decided to make some changes in the design and construct the railway from Ishwardi to Pabna to Dhallarchar in Bara Upazila.

Accordingly, on October 5, 2010, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting allocated Tk 982 crore 86 lakh 56 thousand for the implementation of this railway construction project. Later it increased to 1629 crores.

It should be noted that on February 2, 2013, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the railway construction project in a public meeting at Pabna Government Edward College ground.
