The Dhaka Times Desk Really fancy judgment! A court in Tripoli, Lebanon has ruled that 3 young criminals must memorize Surah Al-Imran!
It is known that those 3 Muslim youths will have to memorize Surah Al-Imran of the Holy Quran for insulting Christianity. Jocelyn Matta, a Christian judge of a court in Tripoli, Lebanon, made such a novel ruling. Those 3 youths insulted Hazrat Maryam (PBUH).
Surah Al-Imran describes the honor and dignity of Hazrat Maryam (pbuh) and Hazrat Jesus (pbuh) (verses 37 to 47). Through this judgment, the judge wanted to encourage those youths to learn Islam about tolerance and respect and love for Hazrat Maryam (PBUH).
The judge also said that law is not only a means of punishment but also a means of education. Prime Minister Saad Hariri also welcomed the verdict of Judge Jocelyn Mattar. He said in a Twitter message that this verdict will be a great example of justice.
The country's anti-corruption minister of state, Nicholas Tuenio, praised Judge Matta, saying that Judge Jocelyn Matta's decision would mark a milestone in solving social problems and eradicating religious intolerance.
