Green, blue, yellow, white, pink are used in every part of Chandanpura Hamidia Taj Mosque on Siraj-ud-Daula Road in Bandar Nagari Chawkbazar Ward; The beauty of the mosque has been enhanced by the designs of vines and various crafts.
Masjid Chittagong's unique architectural style is the traditional Chandanpura Hamidiya Taj Mosque or Masjid e Siraj Uddaula which is better known as Chandanpura Mosque.
The fame of this beautiful mosque built on the model of Mughal architectural design has spread across the country and abroad. It can be easily guessed by the craftsmanship that it is modeled on Mughal architecture.
This traditional mosque is located on Nawab Siraj Uddaula road on the eastern side of Darul Uloom Alia Madrasah of Chittagong, famous as the gateway to Islam.
According to various sources, Mughal rule was established here after Shaista Khan's army freed Chittagong from the control of Arakan Magharajas in 1666. Many mosques were built in the conquered areas by Shahi Farman. Which includes Hamza Khan's Mosque, Andarqilla Shahi Jame Masjid, Ali Khan Jame Masjid etc.
It is known that Abdul Hamid Master established the mosque in 1870 with clay and lime surki walls and tin roofs on the model of Mughal construction art. It was still full of crafts on the mud walls. His descendant British government contractor Abu Syed Dobhash handed over this mosque for renovation work in 1946. More than 5 lakh rupees were spent on this at that time.
The first renovation work of the mosque was completed around 1950 during the Pakistan period, which started during the British period. At that time, artisans of Mughal style were brought from Lakshmau for renovation work. Various materials are also collected from different states of India for the construction of mosques.
