Iran's historic Semnan Jame Mosque

This historical mosque was built in the first century of Hijri in the central city of Semnan province of Iran. This mosque bears the evidence of the antiquity and historicity of Semnan. This mosque is considered as the oldest Islamic monument in Semnan.

However, with the passage of time, extensive changes and renovations have been made to this mosque. A vestige of the Timur and Mughal era can also be seen in the current structure of the mosque.

The minaret is proof that this mosque is old. Its minaret is thirty-two meters high. This minaret is located at the north-east corner of the mosque. This mosque was built in the first half of the 4th century AH.

Inscriptions written in Kufi script can be seen on the minaret of this mosque. Moreover, the brickwork is also quite spectacular. This minaret of Semnan Jame Mosque is also famous as Saljuki Minar. It is one of the historical minarets built during the Saljuq period and is also listed as a national monument of Iran.
