The Dhaka Times Desk A court in the country has ordered that all prisons under the US state of Alaska do not serve pork at Iftar. These prisons used to provide food cooked with pork and fat to the prisoners.
According to media reports, a court in the country has banned all prisons under the state of Alaska in the United States from giving pork to inmates during iftar. The court gave this order last Thursday. In an order, the judge ordered Muslim prisoners to be provided pork-free and nutritious meals during Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
The court has issued this order following an application to the court by the Council on American Muslim Relations (CARE), a voluntary organization of American Muslims.
Care's National Litigation Director Lina Mashri said, Muslim prisoners will no longer be required to eat pork. They should be provided with halal food especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Note that the Anchorage Correctional Complex in Alaska, USA serves prisoners food cooked with pork and fat, which is haram food for Muslims.
