The attack took place yesterday (Saturday) morning when Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was addressing a rally in Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Thousands of people had gathered in that rally. International media reported that several people were killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, in a televised speech after the attack, Prime Minister Abi Ahmed said that those who do not want to see Ethiopia united have made this failed attempt.

It should be noted that the country's former ruler Hailemariam Desalegn suddenly resigned last February. Then Abi Ahmed became the Prime Minister.
