Due to which the internet speed will decrease for the next 5 days

The Dhaka Times Desk The Internet speed may be slightly reduced from July 25 to 30 due to the repair work of the SEA-ME-WEE-4 submarine cable. Bangladesh joined this submarine cable in 2005.

Last Sunday, July 22, Managing Director of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited Mashiur Rahman gave this information.
He further said that the repair work of the submarine cable named SEA-ME-WEE-4 will be done. However, with the presence of the International Terrestrial Cable (ITC) and the second submarine cable SEA-ME-WEE-5, due care will be taken to ensure that the internet speed does not decrease drastically.”

Bangladesh gets 250 Gbps bandwidth through the cable which will be repaired. Bangladesh was the first in 2005 to connect to the submarine cable SEA-ME-WEE-4 to increase internet speed. Bangladesh is the first to connect this submarine cable at a cost of 35.2 million US dollars. Earlier in 2017, due to a mechanical fault, the cable was closed for three days and repaired.

Later, in September 2017, a second submarine cable SEA-ME-WEE-5 landing station was constructed at Kalapara in Patuakhali to increase internet speed. Bangladesh gets 1500 Gbps bandwidth through this second submarine cable.
