HRW has called for the Rohingyas to be kept in a safe place in Cox's Bazar

The Dhaka Times Desk The New York-based international human rights organization Human Rights Watch (HRW) called for the sheltered Rohingyas to be kept in a safe place in Cox's Bazar instead of being shifted to Bhasanchar.

Human Rights Watch, a New York-based international human rights organization, has urged Rohingyas sheltered in Cox's Bazar's Rohingya camp to be kept in a safe place in Cox's Bazar instead of being transferred to Bhasanchar. This call was made in a report published last Monday in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.

Human rights group HRW said the Rohingya have also expressed reluctance to go there after hearing rumors that the Bhasanchar area regularly floods during high tides. Moreover, their education and health care will not be fully guaranteed there. On top of that, the Bangladesh government has not made any promises regarding the free movement of Rohingyas in and out of Bhasanchar.
