The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh is the host of the next 2014 World Cup T20 cricket. But now in the middle of 2013 BCB is quite disappointed with the preparation. President Nazmul Hasan expressed his disappointment. He also said that the inspection team of ICC visited 4 venues last week to monitor the preparations and was not satisfied.
The work on Sylhet's international stadium, which started last year, is yet to be completed. Although Bangladesh team played a match with England Lions team in this field last year. On the other hand, most of the work on a brand new stadium in Cox's Bazar is still incomplete. However, from March 16 to April 16 of next year, various matches of the tournament will be played in the fields of Dhaka and Chittagong.
The BCB president said, "It is quite a shame to face us at the ICC AGM starting next week." In particular, the ICC consultant visited Bangladesh a few days ago and was not happy to see the stadiums. We do not know whether he has submitted a report. I heard that they are thinking about alternative venue of Bangladesh. But we must assure them that there will be no need for an alternative venue, it will be done at what Bangladesh has and we will complete the entire preparations before the scheduled time. I request them to trust us."
"Presently there is more to worry about completing the Sylhet stadium, but the Cox's Bazar venue will be ready before the deadline." A tour of the Sylhet stadium showed that floodlights and players' dressing rooms are yet to be arranged.
If the work is not completed even in the last six months, President Nazmul Hasan avoided answering the question that how the work will be completed by September. However, he said that the work is going on in full swing. He further said, “We have the full support of the Finance Minister and the Sports Minister. They have agreed to think about the budget. Whatever the cost, we will get the job done. I'm sure they will be satisfied when the ICC inspection team comes back to tour in August."
