The Dhaka Times Desk We all should be aware of our health. And this is why it is important to know whether the weight is in ideal proportion according to one's height. This method of determining ideal proportions is called BMI or Body Mass Index. Both below and above the ideal ratio are harmful for us.
For example, if a man weighs 78 kg and his height is 1.7 m
BMI = 78 ÷ 2.89(1.7 squared) = 26.98, which is slightly obese
Underweight if BMI is below 18.5. That is, your ideal is not healthy.
A BMI between 18.5 and 24.99 is normal which is desirable for all of us.
A BMI between 25 and 29.99 is considered healthy or slightly obese. It is also not too bad but you have to try to bring it down to normal.
A healthy person with a BMI between 30 and 34.99 does not want to be overweight.
And BMI above 35 can be called extremely and morbidly obese.
