This river is the Danube river in Hungary. There is almost no water in that river. A lot of gold and silver coins are available from that dry river! These coins are of ancient period. Archaeologists have recovered more than two thousand coins from the almost dried up river.

In this regard, archaeologist Katalin Kovas associated with the Ferenczi Museum said that in addition to coins, ancient iron weapons, cannonballs, spears, swords, etc. were also found in that river.

Like other rivers in Europe, the Danube has completely dried up in several places. There is only 15 inches water level in this river. Ancient artefacts, including coins and iron weapons, were found where the river flows through the town of Erd, south of Budapest. Historians believe that the work should be completed before the water level in the river rises.

Researchers are excited to find so many ancient coins together. Archaeologist Balj Nagy says 90 percent of the coins are from around 1630-1743 AD. These coins were minted in the Netherlands. Coins of France, Zurich and Vatican are also included.

It is known that the ruins of the ancient bridge of Budapest can be seen along the Danube. It was destroyed by the Nazis during World War II. These treasures were found next to him.

Apart from the Hungarian coin of 22 carats, the researchers have confirmed that the French coins are from the period of Louis XVI in the 1600s. Coins from other European countries from the 1700s to the 1800s have also been found.

In this regard, the director of the Ferenczi Museum, Gabor Gullius, first spoke at a press conference about the discovery of this archaeological material. First, an archaeologist locates the treasure through a metal detector. He first found there a bell bearing the image of St. George.

Later he told the matter to the museum. Then the rescue work began. Coins from the reign of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria in 1743 have also been recovered. The museum authorities speculate that shipwrecks can also be found here.

The museum authorities said that the work of rescuing the archaeological material is continuing. Currently, they are thinking of exhibiting these recovered treasures in an exhibition in 2020.

It is known that this Danube river flows through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine in total 10 countries.
