AI will tell if the traveler is lying

The Dhaka Times Desk Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is being used almost everywhere. A lot of fear has also been created in people's minds with its excessive use. But there is no doubt that it will be of particular benefit in revealing the truth.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has become a cause of fear in the current era, especially for those who are used to lying. Maybe it will be used in more complex processes. But this time, the European Union probably increased that fear a little more.

The reason is that the company is recently deploying an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered system called 'Eye Border Control', which can easily detect if travelers are lying. The European Union hopes that this will speed up the entire process of verifying travelers' information.

According to a report published in New Scientist, the European Union will conduct an experimental use of this new technology for 6 months at 4 border crossing points in Hungary, Greece and Latvia.

During pre-screening through this process, users need to upload passport, visa and proof of funds. The computer-generated border guard will then ask them various questions on the webcam. By analyzing users' small expressions, the system can then tell whether the traveler is lying or just how dangerous he is.

For example, what is in your suitcase? If your suitcase is opened and the contents are seen, will your answers prove to be true?- These are the basic questions that travelers will be asked.

Those who clear the question-answer i.e. test, will be given a QR code through which they will be allowed to travel. If the system raises any suspicion about someone, their biometric data will be collected and human assistance will be taken as the next step i.e. handed over to the security officer.

However, questions remain as to how accurate such a system would provide. 'I border control' is still in its infancy. A member of the research team told New Scientist that initial experimental use showed a 76 percent success rate. The rest will be understood after further testing.
