Mahathir criticizes Suu Kyi over Rohingya crisis

On the Rohingya crisis, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad questioned the ruthless brutality of the Myanmar army and reprimanded the country's leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.

Speaking in Singapore, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad spoke about how much tolerance the Myanmar government and Aung San Suu Kyi have shown in dealing with the Rohingya crisis.

Mahathir Mohamad said, looking at the situation, it seems that Aung San Suu Kyi has supported that which is unacceptable. They have basically played the role of oppressors in killing and genocide of Rohingya Muslims.

It should be noted that in August of last year, the Myanmar army started brutally torturing the Rohingya Muslims in response to the attack on the check post. Rohingya refugees started fleeing to Bangladesh through the border after the army operation. They were subjected to various tortures including murder.

The UN has claimed that the Myanmar army's actions are 'ethnic cleansing', but the Myanmar authorities have always denied it. Aung San Suu Kyi has also been shamefully supporting their military.

This is not the first time though; Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi has faced many questions in the international arena since the beginning of the Rohingya crisis.
