According to media reports, this hotel in Dubai is made of gold! This gilded hotel, named Emirates Palace, opened in 2005. The main attraction of the hotel is the golden ceiling.
It has been reported that the hotel has been covered with gold and silver sheets covering an area of about 2,200 square meters. Even if it is not ten gold, 22 carat gold has been used. Every day thousands of people from all over the world flock to see this golden hotel.
It is said that the gold leaf in this hotel, which is basically stuck on the ceiling, lasts for 4 to 5 years. So they have to be changed frequently. One square meter of ceiling contains 50 gold leaves. The price of each gold leaf is about 7 thousand 200 taka.
Kuriakos' teams are changing 4 to 6 square meters of gold leaf every day. A gold leaf design worth around 94 lakh rupees sits on the ceiling of this hotel every year. There is also a silver ceiling sitting there. Gold sheets imported from Italy are made into thin pieces similar to parchment leaves.
These leaves are then placed over a red base coat. Special glue is used in it. These leaves are shaped by hand. All these tasks have to be done very carefully. A protective shield is applied to the delicate leaves after the work is completed. The guests were also impressed by these works.
The Emirates Palace Hotel stretches for about one kilometer from east to west. So this gold wrapping continues regularly. The architect of this hotel claimed that no other hotel ceiling wrapped in gold leaf can be found anywhere else in the world.
