According to media reports, at least 30 people have been killed in a gold mine collapse in the northeastern region of Afghanistan, the country's administration said. At least 7 others were injured in this incident. This incident happened last Sunday in Kohistan district of Badakhshan province of Afghanistan.

According to a BBC report, local villagers dig a 220-foot-deep tunnel under a river to mine gold. They were killed when the tunnel suddenly collapsed. Villagers said the mine collapsed while using an excavator or special equipment to excavate the site.

It is known that Afghanistan has abundant mineral resources. But most of the mines there are old. Moreover, they are in a dangerous condition due to lack of proper maintenance, according to local administration sources.

Regarding this incident, the spokesperson of the provincial government, Nick Mohammad Nazari, told the news agency, "The villagers have been involved in this business for decades and the government has no control over them."
