According to a BBC report, local villagers dig a 220-foot-deep tunnel under a river to mine gold. They were killed when the tunnel suddenly collapsed. Villagers said the mine collapsed while using an excavator or special equipment to excavate the site.

It is known that Afghanistan has abundant mineral resources. But most of the mines there are old. Moreover, they are in a dangerous condition due to lack of proper maintenance, according to local administration sources.

Regarding this incident, the spokesperson of the provincial government, Nick Mohammad Nazari, told the news agency, "The villagers have been involved in this business for decades and the government has no control over them."

Nik Mohammad Nazari said a team of rescue workers has been sent there. However, the villagers have already started removing the bodies from the spot.

It should be noted that most of Afghanistan's vast natural resources have not been possible to climb due to the fighting with the Taliban. That is why the villagers and the Taliban illegally extract resources from the mine, which is one of their sources of income. The operation of the international especially the US forces to kill the Taliban has been going on for a long time. The task of the US forces was to overthrow the Taliban. That is why the country's economy has collapsed. The country's standard of living has also gone down a lot. Measures should be taken to restore the economy of a war-torn country. There is also a need to save the natural resources that the country has. But they have to be done under government supervision and proper rules. Then those natural resources will play a special role in the country's economy.
