The Dhaka Times Desk The fire at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital Dhaka is now under control. Patients admitted to the hospital are being evacuated due to the fire.
Even though the fire was brought under control, 1200 patients are being evacuated to other nearby hospitals due to black smoke spreading throughout the hospital.
Yesterday (February 14) around 5:30 pm, the fire incident occurred on the third floor of the new building of the Medical College Hospital. At 8:20 pm, 16 units of the fire service brought the fire under control for about 3 hours.
Evacuation of patients from the hospital was started an hour after the fire broke out. This work is done by relatives and hospital authorities. As time progressed, the evacuation of patients became more rapid.
At the moment, the hospital authorities have announced that no new patients can be admitted or treated. After this, the evacuation of patients from the hospital began.
About 1200 patients under treatment in the hospital are in trouble due to this fire. Some are being taken on stretchers, and many are being taken by ambulance.
