The Dhaka Times Desk A 17-year-old Australian 'egg boy' has gone viral on the internet after throwing an egg at an Australian politician's head for making controversial comments about Muslim immigrants.

Just as this boy is being called brave, he is now being called the 'egg boy'. Queensland Senator Fraser Anning was speaking to reporters in Melbourne on Saturday when the 17-year-old smashed an egg on his head.

The video shows that Senator Anning then punched him several times. At this point the security personnel took him away and held the teenager down on the ground.

According to international media reports, the police said that the teenager was detained but later released without any charges against him. However, after further investigation, it will be decided whether any charges will be filed in this incident or not.

Victoria Police told Reuters they were investigating the incident thoroughly, which involved a 17-year-old boy.

Anning has also come under fire for comments that blamed Muslim immigrants for the terrorist attack on a New Zealand mosque last Friday during Friday prayers. At least 50 people were killed in attacks on two mosques in Christchurch on Friday.

However, after the egg attack incident in which the teenager was arrested but released without charges - many supporters have even addressed him as a 'hero' on Twitter.

The news agency Reuters says that the video of throwing eggs has spread widely on social media. A trend called #eggboy has also started on Twitter.

Reuters reports that a fundraising initiative has already been launched for the teenager. Where in the meantime 19 thousand Australian dollars (13500 US dollars) has been deposited! This money will be used to pay the teenager's legal fees and 'buy more eggs'!
