The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi King Salman has 'finally rejected' the decree signed by US President Donald Trump recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the occupied part of Syria's Golan Heights.
At the same time, Saudi King Salman reiterated the 'two-state solution' between Israel and Palestine by making East Jerusalem the capital of Palestine.
He said these things while addressing an Arab League event in Tusia on Sunday. Russian media RT said in a report that the Saudi king's comments are a big blow to Trump. On Monday, Trump signed an executive order recognizing the occupied Golan Heights as Israeli territory.
It should be noted that in 1967, Israel occupied two-thirds of the Golan Heights in Syria during the Arab-Israeli War. But the international community has not recognized it till date. The mass media also says that the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital has become another concern for Trump as the Saudi king reaffirmed. The reason is that last year Trump declared the entire East Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
It should be noted that since the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on the orders of the royal family on October 2 of last year, the two countries have been on a bit of a war.
