The Dhaka Times Desk As it is the time of drought, there are reports of fire in almost different buildings. A fire can break out in any building at any time. Therefore, it is necessary to know in advance about what to do in case of fire.
Fires have increased due to drought. Fire incidents are happening in offices, markets, homes. The fire started from Churidhatta in Old Dhaka, FR Tower in Banani and lastly at 5:30 am on Saturday morning at DNCC Market, Gulshan No. 1. The fire service rushed to the news of the fire. But the flames killed many before the fire service arrived. As everything burns to ashes, so does the loss of life. 26 people lost their lives in the FR tower incident.
But we are generally very scared when there is a fire. We don't know what to do if there is a fire. Every second is precious time in a fire. Taking some steps without wasting as much time as possible may reduce or avoid the terrible damage to some extent.
Let us know today the things that cannot be done in case of fire.
# In the event of a fire, try to climb down the stairs instead of climbing onto the roof. If there is no condition to go down, then you have to go to the roof and take shelter.
Never jump down from the top without forgetting #. The danger may increase. For example, at least 3 people have died due to jumping from the FR tower. Two died immediately and one died later in hospital.
# cover the face with both hands and roll to the ground if clothing catches fire. Do not run under any circumstances. The fire should be extinguished by covering it with kantha or any thick cloth.
# cannot run even if the body is on fire. This will increase the fire.
# Wrap the body with wet cloth in case of fire.
# Pour enough water on the burned area. The patient should seek immediate treatment.
# Keeping a first aid box in every home, car, office is essential.
# Fire extinguishers shall be kept in buildings and vehicles. Electricity and gas lines should be checked at least twice a year. Because the main cause of fire in big buildings is electric short circuit.
# Training in the use of fire extinguishers can be obtained from the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
# Notify the fire service and civil defense in an emergency rather than panic.
# Write the telephone number of Fire Service and Civil Defense Control Room (02-9555555 or 01730336699) in a visible place on the vehicle. Also, in case of emergency, you can call the police control room number 999.
