Herat Jame Mosque (مسجد جمعه هرات) Herat is also known as the Great Mosque. It is a famous mosque located in the city of Herat in the northwestern province of Afghanistan.
This mosque was built by the Ghuri ruler Sultan Ghiyas Uddin Ghuri. He laid the foundation stone of this mosque in 1200 AD and the mosque was later expanded by many rulers. Later many of its glazed tiles were replaced and the present version of the Jame Mosque in Herat was given shape in the late 15th century.
